FAQs
Who is DEFINE for?
DEFINE is designed for psychologists, provisional psychologists, psychology registrars, psychiatrists, appropriately qualified mental health clinicians and postgraduate students with a foundational understanding of CBT. Students must use the program within the limits of their training and must not treat it as a substitute for professional qualifications, registration or supervision.
What does DEFINE stand for?
DEFINE covers six things every clinician needs to treat OCD well:
• Differential diagnosis
• Exposure and response prevention
• Formulation
• Intervention
• New learning
• Evidence-based practice
Is DEFINE suitable for provisional psychologists and registrars?
Yes. DEFINE is suitable for provisional psychologists and psychology registrars who have a foundational understanding of cognitive behavioural therapy and work under appropriate supervision.
Is DEFINE suitable for students?
Yes, particularly postgraduate students with a solid understanding of CBT principles. Students must not use the program as a substitute for professional qualifications, registration or supervision.
Is DEFINE suitable for professionals outside psychology?
DEFINE is also suitable for psychiatrists and appropriately qualified mental health professionals whose roles involve the assessment or treatment of OCD. Participants remain responsible for practising within their professional scope and level of competence.
Is DEFINE appropriate for beginners?
Yes. DEFINE builds from essential OCD knowledge through to practical assessment, formulation and intervention. It is particularly useful for clinicians who understand general CBT principles but have limited OCD-specific training.
What does the course cover?
DEFINE teaches a formulation-driven and transdiagnostic approach to OCD assessment and treatment. It moves beyond simply following an ERP hierarchy by helping clinicians understand the function of symptoms, identify maintaining processes and respond to common treatment difficulties.
The program addresses clinical pitfalls that can leave treatment stuck, including missed compulsions, reassurance, avoidance, poorly targeted exposures, overreliance on symptom content and difficulties applying ERP to complex or co-occurring presentations.
How is DEFINE delivered?
DEFINE is delivered online and is entirely self-paced. It includes video teaching, clinical role-plays, case-based learning, downloadable clinician resources, client handouts and module assessments.
How long does DEFINE take?
The complete program takes approximately 20 hours and contains 11 modules.
How long will participants have access?
Participants receive 12 months of access from 2 December 2026 or their purchase date, whichever is later
Does DEFINE provide CPD?
Yes. Completion of the full program provides 20 hours of active CPD. Participants remain responsible for ensuring that the training meets the CPD requirements of their profession, registration body or employer.
Is supervision included?
Supervision is not included in the course fee. Clinical reasoning is demonstrated throughout the teaching videos and role-plays. Participants will also be offered discounted access to optional monthly OCD group supervision and masterclasses. Individual supervision may be booked separately.
What is the refund policy?
Participants may request a refund within 14 calendar days of first receiving course access if they are not satisfied with the program. Requests must be submitted in writing and include brief feedback. This guarantee does not limit any rights available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Is DEFINE a professional qualification or accreditation?
No. DEFINE is an advanced clinical professional-development program and OCD masterclass. It does not provide a professional qualification, registration, endorsement or formal accreditation.
